Smart-Meter madness
Smart-Meter madness
I want to read out the meter values from my smart power meter (Sagemcom T210-D). It does come with a P1 port (DSMR 5 standard). I have the proper cable, and I do receive frames from the meter. They’re encrypted with AES 128-GCM. In addition, an AAD (“additional authentication data”) is needed. I did request the keys from my utility company, but according to them they can’t get the keys from their distributor (Kapsch). The reasoning was quite interesting (privacy, requirement to have end-to-end encryption [?]), but apparently just an excuse. I’ve asked e-control for options. According to their PoV, I even have legal rights to use the user port:
Grundsätzlich muss es für Kunden möglich sein, die unidirektionale
Kommunikationsschnittstelle des Smart Meters zu nutzen (siehe § 84 Abs
5 ElWOG 2010 sowie § 3 Abs 5 IMA-VO 2011).
I’ve again requested the keys from my utility company, or alternatively asked to disable the encryption on the P1 port (as no unauthorized entity could access the port anyway). Let’s see if my second request will work out. If not, I’ll probably need to bother e-control with my case.
